TB screening

What is TB? TB stands for tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that mainly affects the lungs and is a serious condition, but can be cured with the right treatment. The number of people in Salford with tuberculosis is low, but we have an increasing BME (black and minority ethnic) population who can be at higher risk of the disease.

What you should expect from your GP practice:    


  • If you register at a GP practice and you are aged 16 and over, have come to the UK after living in a country for at least six months with a high number of cases of TB within the last five years, you will be offered a test for tuberculosis
