'Big Health Day' returned last week for the ninth year running to give adults with learning disabilities, their carers and their staff advice on the importance of looking after their own health.
This year the theme was around physical health with workshops and stalls focusing on the issues that are known to be of high importance for people with learning disabilities.
The event, organised by NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), NHS Salford Royal Foundation Trust and Salford City Council took place at Salford City Football Club. It included a workshop from Unique Improvements on bowel and bladder health; Mind in Salford looked at health rights and how to speak up; and the community learning disability team also led workshops on epilepsy, safe swallowing, healthy eating and health checks.
